Soft Intelligent Materials for Biomedical Applications

Abstract

Soft materials are natural or synthetic materials such as hydrogels, colloids, elastomers, and biological tissues, as well as their composite materials. Soft materials can generate mechanical deformation when subjected to external stimuli like optics, acoustics, mechanics, electric field, magnetic field, and etc., resulting in new properties or functions. This talk will summary our recent works on soft materials and the biomedical applications (Fig. 1), including soft metamaterials for acoustics [1-3], bioinspired soft elastic metamaterials for reconstruction of natural hearing [4], magnetic soft robot for minimally invasively bioprinting [5], magnetic soft robot bladder assisted urination [6], and other applications.
